FASTENING Nailing stone

Benders is probably best known for its roofing tiles, but they also manufacture products such as paving slabs, paving stones and walls. And of course the kerbstones used in the construction of traffic islands.

“There are two ways of fixing surface kerbstones,” says Svante Andersson, Marketing Director at Benders. “We can either use adhesives or nails. We choose to use nails and our kerbstones arrive at the site ready prepared. All the road workers need to do is hammer in the nail and the kerbstone is securely fastened to the asphalt.

Gunnebo Industries Fastening Systems has supplied Benders with kerbstone nails for many years. And not just any old nails. The kerbstone nail is unique in the industry and designed especially for its job.

“The nail must naturally have a certain hardness to cope with all the stresses the outdoor environment and fastening demand,” says Henrik Kuggvik at Gunnebo Industries. It must also function in the mechanical production process at Benders’ factory, where the nail is installed in the kerbstone. And it does, naturally.
